CONTRACT SHOCK Arsenal star Mesut Ozil reveals he will only sign a new contract if boss Arsene Wenger does

The German midfielder has said he wants it to be clear what his manager does before he commits to a new deal at The Emirates
The German star, 28, will be out of contract in 18 months and is stalling over new terms.

And Ozil said: “I want to be clear what the manager will be doing in the future. The club knows I am here most of all because of Arsene Wenger.

“He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have.

“But I am very, very happy at Arsenal and I have let the club know I would be ready to sign a new contract.

“The fans want that I stay and now it is just down to the club.”

Yet Arsenal are caught in a difficult situation due to Wenger’s own uncertain future.

The Frenchman could finally end his 21-year association with the club when his own contract expires in June. And Wenger has made it clear he will not make any decision until spring, when he knows how well his team has performed.

The Gunners face a battle to hold on to midfielder Ozil and forward Alexis Sanchez, 28.
